Types of heroes (and villains)

I'm always a sucker for non-powered heroes. That's why Hawkeye is my favorite Avenger.

What's your favorite type of hero? Have you ever thought about it before?

Any categories I forgot?

Types of Heroes
(or Villains)
Description
Examples
Super-human

These are people that used to be ordinary human beings, until an event happened that transformed them into something super-human, giving them abilities and powers that no normal human could possess.
Spider-Man, Captain America, Daredevil, Hulk, Ant-Man/Giant-Man, Flash (Barry Allen/Wally West), Fantastic Four, Green Goblin, Abomination, Venom
Non-human
These can include aliens, gods, demons, vampires, etc. Essentially, most of these characters don’t have any special powers when compared to their own kind, but compared to humans they do.
Superman, Zod, Thor, Loki, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, Blade, Aquaman, Hellboy, Mephisto, Silver Surfer

Ghost Rider and Spawn would fall between the “non-human” and “super-human” categories.
Mutant

While these might technically fall under “non-human,” the race is so similar to humans I gave them their own category. Mutans have the genes that give them their abilities from birth, but they usually don’t manifest until puberty.
Cyclops, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Professor X, Magneto, Mystique
(pretty much all the X-Men characters).

Namor would fall between the “non-human” and “mutant” categories.
Technology

These people use knowledge, wealth, or other means to control highly advanced technology, putting them on the same level as having superpowers.
Iron Man, Cyborg, Green Lanterns, Dr. Doom, Whiplash

Batman could arguably be included in this category.
Magic

While not technically a “super power,” these people use magic to give them amazing abilities.

Often times, someone's powers are mistaken for magic. For instance, Scarlet Witch and Thor.
Dr. Strange, Zatanna

Captain Marvel (Shazam) is transformed by magic
Non-powered
These are people that just have to work really, really hard. They may get some technilogical advantage, but they aren’t reliant on the technology.
Hawkeye, Black Widow, Batman, Robin, Mockingbird, Kick-Ass, Catwoman, Lex Luthor, Green Arrow
